Ariana Davis is an artist and activist originally from Whakatipu (Queenstown). Her practice looks at exploring and documenting places her tupuna went as a reclamation of the whenua, telling our own stories and honouring whakapapa and traditions in the modern world.
Join Ariana in this workshop on modern weaving. Discuss weaving, symbols, colours and meanings, and how cultural symbols come together to tell stories of whakapapa. Using these symbols, design and create your own piece of weaving in this workshop.
This workshop is free, but spaces are limited. Reserve your place by emailing programmes@tautai.org
No previous experience needed, but participants are asked to think ahead about ideas surrounding symbolism with their respective cultures.
