Art for Remembrance: Tautai supports art installations at the official celebration of the Dawn Raids Apology

On Saturday morning, we joined Hon. Aupito Su’a William Sio and the Ministry for Pacific Peoples along with Pasifika leaders and communities and Ngati Whatuaorakei at Ōrākei Marae to commemorate the first anniversary of the Dawn Raids Apology.

With 37 Hertz and Anonymouz, we facilitated an audio-visual experience and a collaborative installation work that created a visual representation of the community’s dedication to remembrance.

For Pacific people in Aotearoa, particularly those in Tāmaki Makaurau, the Dawn Raids will remain a significant part of our history. We hope to see remembrance of these events as an opportunity for continued education, growth, connection and healing.

Fa’afetai tele lava to our artists Jasmine Tuiā, Ashleigh Taupaki, Jerimiah Talo and Lesinga Vaiaku for their creativity, support and leadership, and to Tui Emma Gillies for providing feta’aki for the activation.
