Momoe i manu ae ala atea’a Tasker
Samoan-Chinese/British
Momoe i manu ae ala atea’e Tasker is a Samoan-Chinese/British multifaceted punk artist. Born in Taitoko, raised in London, her work reflects her experiences as an afakasi agitator. Momoe's work investigates feminism, abuse, decolonisation, cultural identity and the marginalisation of women of colour through hand block printing/paint/textiles and live performance as vocalist/shared songwriter in GUTTS (queer sax punx band) and drummer in Immigrruntz (qtbipoc punx band) in addition to her own solo punk-disco project titled Sapasui Suga. Through creative activism Momoe aims to start conversations and strengthen solidarity.
It is considered as the number of the supreme power and spirituality.
The number 7 is often considered lucky, and it has a definite mystique. There are seven days of the week, seven planets, seven wonders of the world and let's not forget those seven deadly sins.
It has had significance in almost every major religion. In the Old Testament the world was created in six days and God rested on the seventh. In the New Testament the number seven symbolises the unity of the four corners of the Earth with the Holy Trinity. The number seven is also featured in the Book of Revelation (seven churches, seven angels, seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven stars). The Koran speaks of seven heavens and Muslim pilgrims walk around the Kaaba in Mecca seven times. In Hinduism there are seven higher worlds and seven underworlds, and in Buddhism the new-born Buddha rises and takes seven steps.
Seven deals with magical forces. Seven deals with the activation of imagination and manifesting results in our lives through the use of conscious thought and awareness.
The vast majority of all magic can be divided into seven elemental categories, which indicate their differing realm of influence: Nature, Water, Fire, Earth, Light, Darkness, and Spirit.
My piece is about us. Seven Aunties, trying our bestest to be good ancestors. Seven elements vibing together creating a non-conformist place for ideas and discussion, an inclusive space where we can be our messiest selfs and it's "all good uso!" Where a win for one of us means WE ALL win.
